My Summer Trip: St. Petersburg

Last week I posted about our adventures to Amsterdam but before that we spent a week in St. Petersburg. I never thought it would be a place I would go, but my husband is getting his MBA at Duke through their global program and this was their final destination, so I decided to come along. And I'm so glad I did, it was amazing.

Read more about our trip after the break.

This was by far one of my favorite places we visited. It is the Russian version of Versailles, known as Peterhof Palace. The grounds were just as stunning as the palace itself.

After a 10 minute metro ride, a 20 minute bus ride, and a 15 minute walk we found the Piskariovskoye memorial on the outskirts of town and it was beautiful.

This kind of made me laugh seeing these people laying out on a stone beach. They obviously don't see much sun here, and when they do they take advantage of it.

I was so grateful for Jess. She was my travel buddy. When our husbands were busy in class or studying we found plenty to do to keep ourselves busy...

including a little shopping.

We found this candy shop with every treat imaginable complete with chandeliers and palm trees. I could have stayed there all day.

What trip would be complete without good food? One night we found this authentic Russian restaurant and had to try these two russian specialties, surprisingly delicious.

The best way to see the city is by walking around and we did lots of it. Although I didn't mind much because walking through parks and paths overlooking canals made it worth it.

We had such a blast seeing the sites, making new friends, and trying new food. I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to go.

Any of you ever been to St. Petersburg, Russia?
