Summer Trip: Amsterdam

I thought I would share some of the photos from our trip. We spent a week in St. Petersberg, Russia (more photos coming on that) and then on the way home we spent 24 hours in Amsterdam. It wasn't very much time, but for the short time we were there I felt like we were able to see a lot (thanks to our bike tour).

See more photos from our trip to Amsterdam after the jump...

Amsterdam has so much charm. I loved all the architectural details and one of my favorite things was just walking up and down the streets along the canals.

It rains up to 200 days a year in Amsterdam, and we happened to be there on a rain day, but that didn't stop us (although we did have to buy an umbrella).

Everyone rides a bike. Our bike tour guide told us that to park a car in Amsterdam is anywhere from 20-80 euros a day (no wonder everyone rides bikes). Just behind these bikes is a bike parking garage that can hold up to 25,000 bikes, how funny is that? He also told us if you have a nice bike, plan on it getting stolen.

If you have kids, you may find yourself riding a bike like this because your kids ride in the basket on the front. I know Will would love to ride in something like this.

We signed up to do a bike tour and when we started the tour it was pouring rain, however after about 30 min it cleared up and was beautiful. This was by far the best way to see the city in a short amount of time.

The Anne Frank house was one of my favorite things we saw. It was really cool, the line was quite long even in the rain, (we had to wait about an hour to get in) but it was worth it.

We stayed at this little boutique hotel that had this cute terrace, unfortunately due to rain we couldn't ever use it.

We had the best time and I'm so glad we got to stop here on our way home. Amsterdam is such a cool place to visit. Have any of you ever been?
