Airplane Birthday Party for a lucky 3-year-old

I recently shared Will's love of flying here, so I thought an airplane birthday party would be perfect for him. (He's still at the age where I get to decide what kind of party to throw). I got a lot of ideas from Caroline of the blog Armelle. She has amazing taste and put together a darling airplane theme party this past year. I designed all the graphics and had lots of family help putting it together including my sister who took all the photos.

See more photos after the break...

The banner and paper airplanes on the cake were made from an old map that I cut up.

The invitation was a boarding pass I designed specifically for the party.

The cake was made by a local bakery (I'm not so good with the baking) and I just put the paper airplanes on top and a navy blue ribbon on the bottom.

Of course we had peanuts and pretzels for snacks and just so you know I didn't steal those pretzels. If you follow on Instagram you saw Will was given a whole bag of pretzels and cookies on our last flight because the flight attendant liked him so much.

The carnival happened to be in town this weekend so I bought blue cotton candy and served it in popcorn cups (and yes I realize it has nothing to do with terminal).

I made a few labels for water bottles and we also had blue lemonade.

For the favors there were sunglasses, a mini game, a sucker, and a foam airplane.

Not pictured was the food. We had deli sandwiches on croissants with bags of Sunchips, fruit, and salad (and it was way better than airplane food).

We have a lot of nieces and nephews so we only played three games. Pin the propeller on the plane.

Toss foam airplanes in the hula hoops. I set out three hula hoops and each one was worth different point values.

A relay race flight attendant style where the kids had to carry a tray of cups filled with water without spilling it.

Of course Will's favorite part of a birthday party: blowing out the candles and cake.

It was really fun we could do it with our families while we were on vacation especially since we don't live close to them and I was grateful for all their help.

Also, Will's second and first birthdays.

p.s. I'm sure you've heard that google reader is going to be gone starting Monday, so if you want to follow along you'll have to switch to something new. I already use Bloglovin' and have for quite some time for reading my favorite blogs, but I know others also recommend Feedly.

Love the last picture! What a cute boy!! How fun you could be in Utah for it. Birthdays are always a time when I wish we could celebrate with our family.
