A Car Party

Last Saturday Will turned two. It's hard to believe it has already been two years since he was born.  We had a little car party for him because he is obsessed with cars. We are lucky to have great friends here in Minneapolis that came to celebrate since we don't have family around. One of my favorite things about the house we moved into is our backyard, it really is the most perfect backyard and great for entertaining, (although we learned it's not so great for playing bocce ball).

See more pictures from the party after the jump.

The inspiration for the party was these kido cars that Will loves to play with. I made a simple runner out of gray fabric and white felt. The cake and cupcakes were made by a friend. I sent her a picture of this cake I saw and the invite and she did the rest.

I put together watermelon and strawberry skewers which worked out great for easy eating and clean up. I found the candy jars at Home Goods for really inexpensive and filled them with candy.

The cake pops were actually just donut holes I covered and the striped bags (leftover from last year's birthday party) were filled with chips.

My husband wanted to do a hot dog bar of course and made his own special sauce for the dogs.

The kids at the party were definitely more excited about the presents than Will was.

Of course we had to make it fun for the adults so we had a little game of bocce ball.

Will loved all the attention and playing with everyone (he's a pretty social boy).

and  he loved the cake, but wasn't so sure about the ice cream.

So cute! I love the colors! And I can't believe you guys know Jake and Hollie. You must be in the same ward? They are both from my hometown and Jake was my high school boyfriend! Ha, such a small world.
