How to get makeup to stay put

1. olay regenerist micro-sculpting eye cream and lash serum duo / 2. bobbi brown pot rouge for lips and cheeks  / 3. benefit cosmetics stay don't stray / 4. Mac Fix+ / 5. olay regenerist wrinkle revolution complex
As a busy mom, I rarely have time to reapply makeup throughout the day. Some days I'm lucky to put on makeup. When I do wear makeup, I want it to last. Makeup creases on my eyelids or mascara under my eyes drive me crazy, which is why I'm a big believer of using makeup primers. So today I thought I would share some of the products I currently use to get my makeup to last a little longer.

1. I usually curl my eyelashes, but I've never thought to prime my eyelashes before applying mascara until recently. I'm really picky about mascaras because I hate when mascara ends up below my eyes giving me raccoon eyes. This eyelash primer really helps the mascara go on evenly and also helps it to stay put.

2. I'm a huge fan of blush. I recently started using this cream blush from Bobbi Brown. The one thing I like about it is that it's a cream so it stays on longer, plus a little goes a long way. I also like wearing it on my lips as well. It gives them a nice soft pink color that isn't too much, but just enough.

3. The name says it all. This primer is amazing at keeping your eyeshadow in place. I used to always get creases in my eyelids whenever I wore eyeshadow until I started using a primer and now I can't wear eye makeup without it.

4. After using a little powder to help things stay put, I love to sometimes spray on a little of Mac Fix+. It's a spray mist that helps makeup stay on longer and also gives that nice dewy look that we all strive to achieve. Plus, it's pretty refreshing and smells great.

5. Now that I've entered my thirties, I am starting to realize the importance of taking care of my skin and a good moisturizer is essential. I recently started using the Olay wrinkle revolution complex and I can already notice a difference in my skin. I also like that it's a bit of a thicker cream but doesn't feel greasy.

Here's a little before and after...

For Spring: Bright Pink Lips

image
Spring is here and it's freezing cold outside, but that doesn't mean we can't start wearing bright colors. Red lips have been on a regular rotation for me this past year, but for spring I'm really into bright pink.

Here are a few of my favorite colors.
mac lipstick in impassioned / revlon just bitten lip balm in lovesick / maybelline lipcolor in fuchsia fever
I've also heard a lot of good things about this color. What are some of your favorite pink colors?

Green (or gold) Nails for St. Patrick's Day

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8
Green is not a color that I wear too often. However, I do like the idea of switching things up and trying a green nail color. Here are some of my favorite shades of green (and gold) just in time for St. Patrick's Day.

Sorry for my absence lately. My grandmother passed away this past week so we headed out to her funeral and to spend some time with family.

Fall Essential #3: Berry Lips

I've been seeing berry lips all over this fall, and I think it's an easy way to make your look a little more appropriate for fall. Don't you think? My friend Meg is a makeup artist and blogger so I asked her to share a couple of her tips for achieving those perfect berry colored lips.

imges: 1 / 2 / 3
1. Lip liner. If you want to achieve a look that is bold and crisp use a lip liner second that way it won't leave a line when it wears off. For a deep matte berry color you can fill in your lips with the liner.

2. Keep the eyes basic. Since this is a bold look for your lips, keep your eyes more basic or use nude colors, that way the focus will be on your lips.

Three colors Meg recommends: MAC lipstick - Satin Rebel / Sephora Lip Gloss - honey purple / Bobbie Brown - rum raisin

Thanks Meg for sharing.
