Holiday Cards

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I just wanted to pop in and say hi before signing off for the year:) I'm excited what's in store for 2014. I've set some new business goals and am working to make a few changes to the blog as well. Thanks for reading and your support this past year, especially in the opening of my textile shop.

Here are our holiday cards this year (and Lucas' birth announcements too).

What are your favorite holiday traditions?

Last week I mentioned that this is our first Christmas staying at our own house and not going home. I'm a little sad we aren't going to be with our families, but it's also nice to start thinking about starting some of our own traditions. When we were growing up my mom always made gingerbread houses for us to decorate. It was always one so my favorite traditions and one that I decided to start with Will. Although our gingerbread house was store bought (my mom makes them from scratch), it was still fun to see Will get excited about decorating it, when he wasn't thinking about filling his mouth with marshmallows.

What are some of your favorite holiday traditions? I'd love to hear.

Happy Holidays!

We are visiting our families for the holidays and I am taking the next couple of weeks off to enjoy it  (it's looking like it might be a white Christmas for us too). I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

See you next year.

For the Home Alone obsessed

christmas sweater
Isn't this the perfect sweater for those guys who watched Home Alone as a kid (or still do), and have every line in the movie memorized (like my husband)?

When do you decorate for holidays?

image via
It seems many of my friends have been getting out the Christmas decor this weekend, which is when my family used to decorate for Christmas (the day after Thanksgiving). Have you started decorating for the holidays yet? My friend Chassity posted these adorable photos of her house decorated for the holidays. (isn't her minty front door amazing?) She put the decorations up in October, just for a Home Depot style challenge (not because she normally decorates that early) and included signs explaining so her neighbors wouldn't think she was crazy. It was pretty funny.

When do you start decorating for holidays or do you even decorate for holidays? Unfortunately, I've been putting all my stuff in boxes to move rather than pulling out any decor.

Reindeer sweaters

Gosh, aren't these reindeer sweaters adorable? I think they would look great with a pair of colored cords or even dressed up with some velvet pants.

What are your favorite Thanksgiving Day foods?

image
Since this week is Thanksgiving I would it would be fun to hear some of your favorite holiday foods and if you have any good recipes I'd love to hear those as well. This Thanksgiving we are going to a friend's house since we don't have family nearby (plus, our house is filled with boxes).

My favorite food on Thanksgiving is usually the stuffing (probably because it's one of those foods I eat once a year). And since I'm not really a fan of pies, last year I decided to try making a toffee pumpkin pie cheesecake instead of the typical pie.

Do you stick to traditional Thanksgiving foods or do have different foods you make? What are some of your favorites? I thought it was pretty cool to hear some of our friends actually do fondue on Thanksgiving.

Do you dress up for the holidays?

Can you believe Thanksgiving is already next week? When I was younger we used to dress up for Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve Dinners, and my family still likes to dress up as a tradition. However, when I married my husband he came from a family that did not dress up for the holidays (or maybe it's just that nobody likes to do it anymore)?

What do you think, do you dress up for the holidays or do you stick to something more casual?

Stay tuned for some holiday style tips I'll be sharing.
