Our Trip to North Carolina

Last week we headed out to Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina for my husband's graduation from Duke. Lots of Brandon's family was able to attend as well as my parents so it was really fun and Will loved having so much attention. Here are a few photos from our trip after the jump...

Will was thrilled to see my mom and hardly left her side the whole time we were there.

Duke University is a cool campus with lots of history and amazing architecture. We explored around and Will landed himself a new Duke tee after spilling chocolate milk all over his shirt. Plus, how cool are those rocking chairs?

Our first night in town we went to The Pit which is one of the most famous barbecue restaurants in Raleigh. In fact we liked it so much we ended up going twice while we were there.

We like to eat good food on trips and knew we had to try the chicken and waffles at Dame's and also the shrimp and grits at Crook's Corner. Let's just say I like my chicken and waffles separate, but it was fun to try.

We also had the chance to catch up with old friends while we were there. Jessica's husband was also in the program so we bonded and also got to spend lots of time together on the St. Petersburg, Russia trip.

After the graduation we explored the Duke gardens which were beautiful and so green. After recently going through a bare winter in Minnesota, it was nice to see so much green and lots of color.

Will was quite the champ with all the waiting he had to do so one of the days we took him swimming. The water was still freezing cold, but he didn't seem to mind too much.

I also found out Spoonflower is headquartered in Durham so I contacted them about getting a tour since I've been designing a bunch of fabrics with them. It was really fun to see the process of printing onto fabric.

We had a great time and are lucky to have had so much family there to support Brandon. On the flight home, Will scored with the pretzels and cookies after flirting with the flight attendant.
